Anyone excited at all by the Leica X1? Mmmm curvy...
Lets face it the D-lux 4 bar the AF assist and the HD recording, the whole camera was a bit of a disappointment. Micro four-thirds has yet to mature... and for me the jury is still out on whether it's a Foveon X3 beater.
On the same note, the M9 is just ridiculous, full frame... compact... the price tag... fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. |
i just cant see my self letting go of film cameras. m9 wow!!! i think im just going to buy a m6. |

Really? I mean admittedly when it comes to film I'd only ever bother with medium format as I currently own a Mamiya 645. Film for me is relegated to a serious niche/hobby, nothing more.
From a business/professional point of view, film just isn't practical these days. Clients want to see results near enough immediately, they don't want to wait a few days for you to develop the film. What with the ever increasing mega pixels, digital can and is able to shoot for large print... Also film isn't as cost effective, speak to all the wedding photographers out there. Think you'd be pretty naive to completely ignore digital as a viable method of photography. |

all depends on the use really, film is still art digi however good still has less sole,in a way digi for commercial is a blessing and a curse, its good as you can see whats going on and jobs can be signed off on the day,but having several clients peering over your shoulder becomes very tiersome and you find yourself shooting 100s more images than you would ever need.
I still like the idea of using film on holiday and just general docu if i remember to have t4 or something in my bag, didgi for work is a god send as the idea of having to go and develop a snap of a jacket a press event or a store that i just need for reference seems like a nightmare.I need to upgrade to a decent compact digi. |

I'm sure film is still used in fashion editorials for that "edgy appeal", on that note I liked the results of the Acronym shoot you did, that was done in large format right? Leica (digital medium format, full frame sensor in a "compact"), Olympus/Panasonic (micro four-thirds), Sigma (Foveon), Hasselblad wouldn't continue to develop new digital technologies, if they didn't feel digital had a future and place in the industry. If you can afford film that's great, even better if you have your own processing kit and do it at home. Though for the majority of us mere mortals who don't have the time to process or money to develop 20 rolls of holiday snaps (good friend of mine once did 72 rolls from his 6 month trip in South America...), digital will suffice.
Stephen, you should post up some of your t4 pics, would be a welcome contribution to this thread. I'll put up some of my Mamiya ones when I have a moment... |

isn't the hypocrisy painfully obvious? |

hypocrisy? consider this... with the "wealth of knowledge" and product you and the rest of us have regarding "streetwear," but have the elitist mentality and not share it on the forum. i mean...that's why there's that "other" forum you guys post in right? why take fit pics if there isn't another elitist to say it's the shit and suck your dick. oh the IRONY.
not to say i'm not guilty of the same thing. i talk hella shit, but there's a fine line between confidence and cocky. you are penisy.
sick deal ey? at least i stay humorous about this forum, active or not, and not act like i got a stick up the coolguy ass. |
